Alquímico

Alquímico is a cocktail bar on Calle del Colegio in the historic centre of Cartagena, Colombia. It opened in early 2016, started by a team of five who wanted to celebrate Colombia's biodiversity, local produce and hospitality.

The World's 50 Best Bars ranks Alquímico No. 3 in its 2026 list. It was the first Colombian bar ever to enter that ranking, reached No. 10 in 2022, and received the award for the world's most sustainable bar in 2020.

During the pandemic half the team moved to the bar's farm in Colombia's coffee region under the motto #FromTheBarToTheFarm, learning to grow the ingredients they mix. The current menu supports ASOCOMAN, a farmers' association in the Montes de María, with part of each cocktail's price going to a school and better production facilities. Drinks use Colombian flavours such as viche, sour guava, corozo and pipilongo. The bar takes no reservations and works walk-in only, every evening from 6 pm, with a team that now numbers more than a hundred.
