Amisfield

Queenstown, New Zealand

Amisfield is a winery and restaurant in Central Otago, New Zealand, a short drive from Queenstown. It is housed in a stone and wood A-frame building among vineyards, and its executive chef is Vaughan Mabee.

Food & Wine ranks Amisfield No. 3 in its Global Tastemakers 2025 list of the top 15 international restaurants. The magazine says it is as well known for bold dishes as for its Pinot Noir, and praises a tasting menu built on seasonal, hyperlocal ingredients.

Mabee grew up on the North Island near Kerikeri, worked in California and trained under chefs including René Redzepi of Noma. Food & Wine recommends the Trust the Chef menu, in which dishes are made to look like the animals they come from, such as the Jelly Tip Duck Head. It also notes that Mabee is the only New Zealand chef chosen as one of the World's Top 100 Chefs.
