Ikoyi

London, England

Ikoyi is a restaurant on the Strand in London, England, set into the corner of a Brutalist building. It was co-founded by Iré Hassan-Odukale and chef Jeremy Chan, and describes its food as "spice-based cuisine".

Food & Wine names Ikoyi the winner, No. 1, of its Global Tastemakers 2026 list of the best global restaurants. The magazine stresses that it is not, or not entirely, a West African restaurant: Chan uses West African flavours as a framework for seasonal British produce, with frequent nods to East Asia.

The restaurant is named after the Lagos neighbourhood where Hassan-Odukale grew up. The tasting menu uses sorghum, ogbono seeds, palm wine, baobab and spices such as uda pods and alligator pepper, alongside rhubarb, shell peas, Scottish scallops and Devon beef. Food & Wine also mentions a nutty spice blend linked to Nigeria's best-known street food, used from smoked squab to chocolate ganache, and a jollof rice smoked over oak chips under a shellfish custard.
