Botánico

Mexico City, Mexico

Botánico is a restaurant in the Condesa neighbourhood of Mexico City, Mexico, opened in 2022 in a renovated Art Deco house. Its chefs are Alejandra Navarro and Ernesto Hernández, who previously worked together at the two-Michelin-star Quintonil.

Food & Wine ranks Botánico No. 7 in its Global Tastemakers 2026 list of the best global restaurants. The magazine presents it as a place local diners return to again and again, despite reservations that are hard to get, and praises simple, modern, precisely cooked food.

The menu leans towards Italian bistro cooking, with burgers, braises, oysters, crudos, pastas and a green salad, but changing dishes also mix in Mexican ideas. Examples are a tuna tostada with salsa macha and yuzu kosho, and a shrimp aguachile with serrano chile and pistachios. Food & Wine recommends the back patio, with its greenery, cactus garden and a koi pond that also holds a few axolotls.
