Passalacqua

Lake Como

Passalacqua is a small villa hotel on Lake Como in northern Italy. It opened in 2022 and belongs to the De Santis family — Paolo, Antonella and their daughter Valentina — who also own the Grand Hotel Tremezzo, a property about three times its size.

Condé Nast Traveler's Readers' Choice Awards 2026 list it at No. 2 among the best hotels in the world, and the magazine also tags it with its Hot List 2023 and Gold List 2026. The World's 50 Best Hotels ranked it No. 4 in 2025 and No. 5 in 2026. Condé Nast Traveler writes that the high expectations at its opening "have been surpassed".

The hotel has just 12 suites in a pale amber villa with sage-coloured shutters. Below it, seven acres of terraced gardens with olive trees, mimosa, David Austin roses, fountains and magnolias step down to the water. Inside, the magazine points to etched mirrors, painted glass, fine leather pieces, hand-blown Murano chandeliers and Il Bronzetto lighting.
