Qatar Airways is the flag carrier of Qatar. It was set up by the Qatari government in 1993 and has been fully state-owned since 2013. From its base at Hamad International Airport in Doha it runs a hub-and-spoke network of about 170 international routes, and it joined the Oneworld alliance in October 2013.

The airline ranks near the top of every list gathered here. AirlineRatings.com named it No. 1 among full-service airlines for 2026, and AirHelp put it at No. 1 in its AirHelp Score 2025. Skytrax ranked it No. 1 in the World's Top 100 Airlines for 2025 and No. 2 for 2026. Condé Nast Traveller (UK) readers placed it No. 1 in 2025 and No. 2 in 2026, and Travel + Leisure listed it No. 2 among international airlines in both 2025 and 2026, calling it a "WBA Hall of Fame honoree" with a 2025 reader score of 90.59.

Qatar Airways began flying on 20 January 1994, and Amman was its first destination in May of that year. In 1995 it had a staff of 75 and a fleet of two Airbus A310s; today it operates more than 200 aircraft, and the group employs over 43,000 people. Since 2015 its slogan has been "Going Places Together". Wikipedia also records controversies over staff pay and working conditions and accusations of bribing European politicians.
